"We have now sunk to the depth where the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men." ~ George Orwell.

"We may ignore, but we can nowhere evade the presence of God. The world is crowded with Him." ~ C.S. Lewis.

The grain of truth is this: If you live apart from the Redeemer, then truth will seem fragmented because you won't be able to make sense of things. If you live apart from the Redeemer, then personality will seem fragmented because you won't know who you really are. And if you live apart from the Redeemer, then life really will seem fragmented because you will be unable to grasp its meaning and may simply give up trying." ~ J. Budziszewski.

"There once was in man a true happiness, of which all that now remains is the empty print and trace. This he tries in vain to fill with everything around him, seeking in things that are not there the help he cannot find in those that are, though none can help, because the infinite abyss can be filled only with an infinite and immutable object; in other words, by God himself." ~ Blaise Pascal.

"You cannot make men good by law: and without good men you cannot have a good society." ~ C.S. Lewis.

"Moral character is assessed not by what a man knows but by what he loves."  ~ St. Augustine.

"Anything inconsistent with reason wounds us."  ~ Pierre Nicole.

"We have an incapacity for proving anything which no amount of dogmatism can overcome.  We have an idea of truth which no amount of scepticism can overcome."  Pascal's Pensees, 406/395.

"My, how dogmatic you are about your skepticism!"  ~ Peter Kreeft.

 Mission in Liberia

I've had the unique privilege and honor to minister alongside Living Water International, a humanitarian Christian ministry that seeks to combat one of the greatest killers of our time:  contaminated water.  Every month, hundreds of thousands lose their lives by drinking unsafe water.  In fact, consider this... mothers are faced with a terrible dilemma each and every day:  "If I feed my child water, my child will more than likely become terribly sick, if not die.  If I don't feed my child water, my child will certainly die."

My part in Living Water, as a representative of the College of Biblical Studies and Pine Valley Bible Church, is to teach pastors how to study the Scriptures more effectively using the inductive approach.

Two years ago last March I traveled with a team to Sunyani, Ghana.  While water wells were being dug, I was able to train over a 150 pastors how to study the Bible for themselves.  No longer do they have to be dependent upon commentaries.  Since most pastors even lacked a Bible, we were able to give everyone a Bible and a copy of Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest.

Last August I had the honor of teaching in Monrovia, Liberia, a country torn by civil war, exploited and tortured by Charles Taylor.  I taught pastors and Bible students how to study the Bible inductively.  It was an absolute privilege to be with them. Though they already had Bibles, we gave everyone a copy of Howard Hendrick's, Living by the Book, and other reference tools.

After I came back Christian believers at Pine Valley Bible Church came forward and financially gave to a matching grant the Rotary Club of Liberia offered in order that a water well might be constructed for an elementary school with approx. 800-900 students; they had no clean and pure water to offer their students.

Then in August 2006 I left again for Monrovia, Liberia, serving with Living Water Carolinas. Liberia has a new president; this country is moving forward!  I taught the doctrine of the spiritual life as it relates to godly servant-leadership to Baptist pastors and other servant-leaders of their lcoal churches.  While I was there, others repaired water wells and offered medical care to dear orphan children and other villages.  Lastly, we were able to participate in extending the gospel to an unreached people: The Gola People.  Please pray for them.  They are beautiful people.

In August 2007 we are heading back to Liberia with Living Water Carolinas here I will be teaching both professors at Jake Memorial Bible College and their students.  Other will be drilling/repairing water wells, medical care, proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, and assisting others who are meeting crucial needs.

If you are interested in donating funds to provide clean pure water to thousands of people in Liberia or other places, please contact Living Water International.  Their address is http://www.living-water.org/.  Right now, the cost for a water well is approx. $2,000.00; the labor is free.  Your generosity will save hundreds, if not thousands of families, one village at a time.
